Tennessee Businesses Disconnected Bitcoin ATMs After State Ban Takes Effect

Murfreesboro police in Tennessee have been checking businesses that previously hosted Bitcoin ATMs to ensure compliance with the state's new ban, which took effect on July 1.

The ban was implemented after local residents lost nearly $4.1 million over six months to cryptocurrency kiosk scams, often targeting elderly residents, according to police reports.

Detectives visited 30 businesses and found that all were complying with the law by disconnecting their machines as vendors arranged for removal.

Police Chief Michael Bowen delivered a letter along with a copy of the law to each business during the visits.
