Tennessee County Bans Crypto Mining Operations for Second Time
The Hawkins County Commissioners in Tennessee have passed their second ban on cryptocurrency operations. On Monday, they voted unanimously (12-0) to ban crypto mining facilities and data centers from operating in unincorporated areas of the county.
This is not a new effort; the commission had already banned similar activities in September 2025 as part of an attempt to block ExoticRidge's operations. They passed a resolution in January affirming their authority over such bans.
A proposed settlement allowed ExoticRidge to construct and run its facility with noise restrictions, but the county-level ban is the latest move by Tennessee officials against crypto companies operating in the state.
