Tennessee County Tightens Grip on Crypto Mining Operations
Hawkins County in Tennessee has expanded its ban on crypto mining operations after officials voted unanimously to prohibit all such facilities and data centers in unincorporated areas.
The measure, which was passed by a 12-0 vote, broadens previous restrictions imposed in September 2025. It follows an earlier resolution affirming the county's authority to impose such limits.
In January, officials proposed a settlement with ExoticRidge, allowing the company to operate under strict noise limits, including a cap of 80 A-weighted decibels at the property line for no more than 30 minutes in four hours.
