Tesla Keeps BTC Holdings Steady Amid Market Volatility
Tesla continues to hold its Bitcoin (BTC) reserves steady at 11,509 units in Q2 2026, maintaining its nearly four-year strategy of holding onto the cryptocurrency without making any purchases or sales.
This move reflects the company's long-term commitment to digital assets despite price fluctuations. The value of Tesla's BTC holdings decreased from $786 million in Q1 to $674 million in Q2 due to a drop in Bitcoin prices, resulting in an unrealized accounting loss of $112 million.
Tesla made headlines in 2021 when it invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin, marking a significant milestone in institutional adoption. Although the company sold a large portion of its holdings in 2022, it has not engaged in further transactions since then, indicating sustained confidence in the cryptocurrency.
