Tesla's China Deliveries Soar 38% Amid Strategic Review
Tesla's China operations have shown significant improvement in July deliveries, according to figures tracked by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). The company delivered 93,579 vehicles from its Shanghai Gigafactory, a number that represents a 38% year-over-year jump compared to last year's July deliveries of about 67,886 units.
The Shanghai Gigafactory has been Tesla's most important production asset since it began churning out vehicles in late 2019. It accounts for over half of the company's global vehicle production, serving both the massive Chinese domestic market and export demand across Asia and Europe.
Tesla holds 11,509 BTC on its balance sheet as of mid-2026, with no Bitcoin sales reported during Q2 2026. However, the company booked $112 million in unrealized impairment losses tied to Bitcoin price fluctuations during that same quarter.
The Shanghai Gigafactory's performance is crucial for Tesla's overall production and supply chain. Any potential changes to its China operations, including a strategic review or separation of its Chinese business, would have significant implications for the company's global strategy.
