Tether.bet Shutdown Adds Fuel to Farage's Ongoing Scandals

Convicted fraudster George Cottrell's ties to Nigel Farage and his party Reform UK have been under scrutiny. Cottrell, also known as 'Posh George', has a history of wire fraud in the US, where he served time in prison. His relationships with Farage and Reform UK involve undeclared donations and benefits.

One of these ventures is Tether.bet, an online bookmaker and casino that allowed punters to place large sums on sports and politics using cash or cryptocurrency. The website was registered just days after a Mayfair lunch between Farage, Cottrell, and crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne, who gifted Farage £5 million in 2024.

Tether.bet's operations may have been linked to UK crimes, including unlawful gambling and money laundering. While Cottrell denies seeking clients for the platform, middlemen facilitated bets by converting cash into cryptocurrency and processing payouts. If convicted, these offenses can carry imprisonment or fines.
