Tether Completes First Full Audit with Unqualified Opinion
Tether, the issuer of the USDT stablecoin, has completed its first full independent financial statement audit. The company said KPMG U.S. issued an 'unqualified opinion' on Tether International's financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2025.
An unqualified opinion is considered the most positive form of opinion that an independent auditor can issue, indicating no reservations or exceptions.
Tether described its first audit as the largest inaugural financial audit in history. KPMG examined the company's transactions, systems, ownership records, valuations, counterparties, and underlying evidence supporting Tether International's financial position.
The audited financial statements reported that Tether's reserves exceeded its liabilities by $6.8 billion at the end of 2025, according to Tether's chief financial officer Simon McWilliams.
