Tether Expands Beyond Stablecoins with AI Apps for Developing Markets
Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, is expanding its reach beyond financial services into technology and infrastructure. According to CEO Paolo Ardoino, the company plans to roll out AI applications for developing markets, targeting over 650 million users.
The tools will cover health, finance, and sports sectors, running directly on smartphones using lightweight AI models rather than relying on cloud servers. This approach fits with Tether's existing framework for offline AI execution, which it has been building towards through its open-source local AI framework called QVAC.
Tether's user base has already surpassed 650 million people worldwide, built largely through stablecoin adoption in regions with volatile local currencies or limited banking access. The company sees this audience as a natural fit for lightweight, offline-capable applications that can benefit from AI technology.
