Tether Expands into Consumer AI with Developing Market Focus
Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, is expanding its focus beyond financial services into technology and infrastructure. CEO Paolo Ardoino announced plans to roll out AI applications specifically designed for developing markets, targeting over 650 million users worldwide.
The tools will cover health tracking, finance management, and sports content, running directly on smartphones using lightweight AI models rather than relying on cloud servers. This approach is in line with Tether's existing QVAC framework, which allows developers to run AI models offline across devices.
Tether's user base has already surpassed 650 million people worldwide, built largely through stablecoin adoption in regions with volatile local currencies or limited banking access. The company sees an opportunity to leverage its existing distribution and brand recognition in emerging economies for consumer AI products.
