Tether Expands Regulated Tokenization Across Africa with Nairobi Securities Exchange Partnership
Tether's partnership with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) marks a significant milestone in the expansion of cryptocurrency adoption across Africa. The memorandum of understanding between Tether and the NSE focuses on digital asset education, securities tokenization through Tether's Hadron platform, and a Kenya-specific anti-money laundering (AML)/KYC framework.
The agreement aims to support the NSE's goal of evolving market infrastructure and expanding investor accessibility. This collaboration positions Tether deeper within regulated capital markets, extending its role beyond stablecoin payments into institutional infrastructure.
Poilo Ardoino, Tether CEO, noted that 'digital assets are evolving from crypto into real-life applications and ultimately cross-border institutional finance.' The partnership will test tokenized securities and fractional ownership within a regulated exchange, with the potential to lower investment thresholds and improve market liquidity.
