Tether Gold Earns Shariah Certification, Expanding Digital Gold Access in Islamic Finance
Tether Gold (XAU₮) has received Shariah certification from Amanah Advisors, marking an important step in expanding access to tokenized gold within Islamic finance. The certification verifies that XAU₮ meets key Islamic finance principles, including real asset ownership and the absence of interest.
XAU₮ is a blockchain-based gold investment issued by TG Commodities, S.A. de C.V., where each token represents direct ownership of allocated physical gold stored in Swiss vaults. Amanah Advisors reviewed XAU₮'s structure and confirmed it meets Shariah standards, including transparent reserves and the absence of excessive uncertainty or speculative derivatives.
Tether believes this certification could accelerate adoption across Islamic banks, takaful providers, halal savings products, trade finance platforms, and institutional investors. According to Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, gold has long represented stability and trust across generations, and Shariah certification enables the company to expand access to digital gold without compromising Islamic finance principles.
