Tether Posts Record Q2 Profit Amid Cryptocurrency Market Weakness
Tether, the issuer of the widely used USDT stablecoin, reported a significant profit in Q2 2026. The company earned $1.5 billion from Treasury income, which strengthened its overall results despite the wider crypto market's weakness.
The supply of USDT tokens reached $184.6 billion during the quarter, despite the smaller crypto market size. This growth helped Tether maintain a strong position in the global stablecoin sector, retaining more than 60% of the market share throughout Q2.
Treasury income played a crucial role in Tether's earnings, with United States Treasury securities and repurchase agreements generating steady income under elevated interest rates. The company kept most reserves in government-backed instruments and short-term liquidity facilities to ensure sufficient liquid assets for redemptions during volatile conditions.
