Tether Pushes USDT Adoption in Laos Through Educational Partnership with Bitqik
Tether, the issuer of the widely-held stablecoin USDT, has partnered with Bitqik, one of only two licensed cryptocurrency exchanges in Laos. The goal is to promote awareness and adoption of USDT through education programs targeting 10,000 people by 2026.
The initiative will focus on major cities in Laos, including Vientiane, Pakse, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang, with quarterly events and educational content developed by Bitqik. This includes online materials and seminars covering Bitcoin investment and stablecoin use cases.
Bitqik received its trading license from the Bank of Laos in January 2022 and operates as one of only two regulated platforms authorized to offer digital asset brokerage and trading services in the country.
According to Paolo Ardoino, Tether CEO, this partnership 'reflects our commitment to grassroots education' and aims to empower communities in Laos with knowledge and tools for participating in the digital economy. The collaboration follows similar educational initiatives by Tether in Thailand and across Africa as part of its Southeast Asian expansion strategy.
