Tether Receives Clean Audit Opinion from KPMG on $183 Billion USDT Stablecoin
Tether has completed its first full independent audit of its annual financial statements. KPMG US issued a clean opinion on Tether's 2025 accounts, stating that the company's balance sheet, income statement, and cash flows fairly presented its financial position, results, and cash flows in all material respects under US accounting standards.
The audit covered assets backing Tether's issued tokens, including the USDt (USDT) stablecoin. The audited statements showed reserves exceeding liabilities by $6.814 billion.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino noted that KPMG physically inspected and counted the company's gold holdings, verifying each bar rather than relying solely on custodian records.
