Tether Reports Q2 2026 Profit of $1.5 Billion, Expands Gold Holdings
Tether, the issuer of the widely-used stablecoin USDT, has reported its second-quarter financial results for 2026. The company achieved a net operating profit of approximately $1.5 billion during this period.
This performance was primarily driven by income generated from Tether's holdings of US Treasury securities and repurchase agreement activities. At the end of Q2 2026, Tether's total assets stood at roughly $187.75 billion, with liabilities totaling about $183.64 billion.
The company's reserve surplus remained strong, with a surplus of approximately $4.11 billion, confirming that its assets continued to exceed obligations despite market fluctuations. Circulating USDT reached around $184.6 billion, representing a modest increase of roughly $446 million from the prior quarter and pushing the token's share of the overall stablecoin market above 60 percent.
Tether also made strategic adjustments to its reserve portfolio during this period, acquiring an additional 14 tons of physical gold, which now comprises over 146 tons. This move underscores the growing role of gold within the company's diversified reserve strategy.
