Tether Sued Over Alleged Freeze of $42.4 Million USDT

Two Thai businessmen, Nutthawat Rukthammachalern and Natthawat Kasamvilas, have filed a lawsuit against Tether, alleging that the stablecoin issuer froze $42.4 million in USDT without proper legal process.

The freeze allegedly occurred on October 30, 2025, months before U.S. authorities obtained a seizure warrant on February 19 of this year.

The plaintiffs claim that Tether acted at the request of a U.S. law enforcement agent, but with no formal warrant or other legal process in place.

The lawsuit seeks to have the addresses removed from Tether's blacklist and prevent the destruction of the frozen tokens until a final forfeiture ruling is made.
