Tether Surges with Record Q2 Profit Amid Volatile Markets
Tether, the largest stablecoin issuer, reported a net profit of $1.5 billion in Q2 2026, marking a 44% increase from the previous quarter's profit of $1.04 billion. The firm's reserve buffer to handle USDT redemption emergencies has also increased to $4.1 billion.
The growth was driven by U.S Treasury bonds and repos (repurchase agreements), as well as an expansion in physical gold holdings, which rose from 132.2 tons to 146 tons, a 10.5% increase.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino praised the quarter's performance, saying 'Tether had a great second quarter of 2026, with ~1.5B in net operating profit, despite highly volatile global markets.'
