Tether Surpasses Ethereum in Market Value Before Falling Back
Tether's USDT briefly surpassed Ethereum (ETH) in market value for the first time in nearly eight years, but only held the top spot temporarily.
Data showed that Tether's market cap climbed to around $187.05 billion while Ethereum's slipped to about $186.263 billion, with the gap between the two assets falling below $1 billion.
The reversal was short-lived, and Ethereum quickly reclaimed its second-place ranking with a market cap back near $188 billion.
Analysts attribute the shift to investors pulling capital from risk assets and leaning on stablecoins for liquidity, sparking talk of a 2026 'stablecoin season.'
