Tether Teams Up with Laos Exchange for Stablecoin Education Push
Tether has joined forces with Bitqik, one of Laos' licensed cryptocurrency exchanges, to promote stablecoin education and adoption in the country. The initiative aims to educate 10,000 people through quarterly events in major cities such as Vientiane, Pakse, Vang Vieng, and Luang Prabang.
The program will focus on promoting the use of USDT, with Bitqik developing online educational content and hosting seminars on Bitcoin investment and stablecoin use cases. Paolo Ardoino, Tether CEO, said the collaboration reflects their commitment to grassroots education and empowering communities in Laos.
This partnership follows similar initiatives by Tether in Thailand and Africa, as the stablecoin issuer expands its presence in Southeast Asia. Laos operates a pilot regulatory framework for cryptocurrency that remains experimental, with significant gaps identified by the Financial Action Task Force in 2023.
