Tether has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to explore tokenized securities, blockchain-based market infrastructure, and the potential use of USDT as a settlement layer.

The agreement aims to leverage Tether's Hadron tokenization platform for issuing and trading tokenized securities. The parties will also assess instant settlement mechanisms and the potential use of USDT as a digital settlement infrastructure layer, if permitted under Kenyan regulations.

This move comes as tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) continue to gain traction, with their onchain value growing to about $36.8 billion, excluding stablecoins, according to RWA.xyz. Additionally, the sector's total value, including stablecoins, stands at nearly $298 billion.
