Tether Teams with Nairobi Exchange on Tokenized Securities
Tether, the company behind the widely-used stablecoin USDT, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nairobi Securities Exchange to explore tokenized securities and blockchain-based market infrastructure in Kenya.
The MoU, signed on July 28, aims to investigate tokenized securities, fractional access, instant settlement, and digital asset education. The two parties will also assess whether USDT can serve as a settlement infrastructure layer where Kenyan rules permit it.
Tether's Hadron platform will be used to create and manage tokenized assets, with the goal of providing local and diaspora investors with fractional access to securities. However, no specific pilot date, budget, or binding implementation schedule has been announced.
