Tether's Billion-Dollar Expansion: Building Exposure to Hard Assets
Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, is expanding its business beyond its core dollar network. The company has surpassed $186 billion in USDT circulation and reported over $10 billion in net profit for 2025.
According to Paolo Ardoino, Tether's CEO, the company is positioning itself as a broader financial infrastructure company. Profits from its stablecoin business are being used to build exposure to hard assets like Bitcoin and gold.
Tether has increased its Bitcoin holdings by 9,850 BTC in Q4 2025, bringing its total reserves to 96,184 BTC. The company views Bitcoin as a long-term strategic asset rather than a short-term trading position.
