Tether's XAU₮ Earns Shariah Certification in Major Breakthrough
Tether's XAU₮ has received Shariah certification, opening doors to one of the world's largest and fastest-growing financial sectors.
The gold-backed digital asset is issued by TG Commodities Limited and trades as an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, making it accessible across major crypto platforms.
To qualify for Shariah compliance, XAU₮ had to be backed by a real asset and structured in a way that avoids prohibited practices such as interest (riba), excessive uncertainty (gharar), and speculation (maysir).
Major Shariah screening services Sharlife and CoinStudy have classified XAU₮ as halal, with CoinStudy assigning it a score of 81 out of 100. Halalscreener rates XAU₮ as 'Doubtful' under AAOIFI criteria.
The Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) recognized XAU₮ as an Accepted Spot Commodity in July 2026, allowing authorized firms to offer services related to the token.
