Texas Resident Sues Athena Bitcoin Over ATM Scam

A Texas resident has filed a proposed class action against Athena Bitcoin, accusing the crypto ATM operator of failing to flag transactions that exceed its daily limits. This allowed scammers to deceive the plaintiff out of nearly $30,000, which remains unretrieved.

The lawsuit alleges that Athena Bitcoin's lax security protocols enabled scammers to exploit the system and dupe customers out of their funds. The plaintiff claims that he was tricked into sending his money through the ATM, but when he tried to withdraw it, the ATM refused to dispense the cash.

The complaint seeks damages for the plaintiff and all others who may have been similarly affected by Athena Bitcoin's alleged negligence. A court date has not yet been set for the case.
