Texas Voters Turn Against GOP Over Data Center Concerns
Conservative Texas voters are turning against the Republican Party due to its handling of data centers in the state. Cheryl Shadden, who lives near a Marathon Digital bitcoin mine in Hood County, is one such voter. She has been protesting the facility for over two years and has become disillusioned with the party's response.
Shadden voted Republican in the past but now says she's 'fed up' with the party's lack of action on data centers. She's even agreed to appear in an ad for Democratic state Rep. Gina Hinojosa, who is running against Republican Governor Greg Abbott.
The debate over data centers is a central issue in both the governor's race and the U.S. Senate election between Attorney General Ken Paxton and Representative James Talarico. Some conservative voters are breaking rank and voting Democratic or staying home altogether due to their concerns about data centers.
