Thai Government Approves Digital Asset Law Update Amid Growing Crypto Sector

Share

Thailand's government has approved four amendments to its financial market regulations, including updates to the 2018 emergency decree on digital asset businesses.

The changes aim to modernize the country's approach to digital assets and strengthen regulatory oversight. The updated rules will apply to cryptocurrency exchanges, token issuance, and digital asset custody.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will now have expanded authority to investigate major financial crimes, including those involving digital assets.

The amendments also include measures to modernize rules on the legal effect of electronic documents, fundraising, and secondary markets. These changes are intended to streamline processes and improve the efficiency of Thailand's financial markets.
