Thai SEC Proposes Retail Access to Overseas Crypto Derivatives

Share

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed new rules that would allow licensed intermediaries to facilitate retail investment in qualifying digital asset derivatives traded overseas.

The proposal, which was announced on August 31, aims to provide retail investors with access to a wider range of crypto derivatives while maintaining strict regulations to protect them from potential risks.

Under the proposed rules, eligible contracts must match Thai product features and use regulated central counterparty clearing arrangements overseas. Non-qualifying overseas crypto derivatives would remain available only to institutional investors.
