Thai SEC Seeks Public Feedback on Retail Access to Overseas Crypto Derivatives
Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed a regulation that would allow financial intermediaries to offer retail access to select overseas crypto derivatives.
The proposal, which is open for public consultation until September 30, aims to ensure adequate investor protections and market integrity by setting certain conditions for the eligible digital asset derivatives.
The proposed conditions include requirements that these products must closely resemble those available in Thailand, with regard to underlying assets, contract maturity, leverage limits, and settlement methods.
The SEC also specified that these products must be listed on overseas exchanges that operate with a central counterparty for clearing and are supervised by regulatory authorities that are members of certain designated international regulatory organizations.
