Thai SEC Sets 2027 Deadline for Crypto Travel Rule Compliance
Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission has set February 27, 2027 as the deadline for digital asset businesses to fully implement new compliance systems. The final version of Thailand's crypto Travel Rule aims to reduce the risk of money laundering or terrorist financing activities.
The SEC directive requires licensed exchanges and other digital asset sector players to identify both the sender and recipient in every cryptocurrency transfer by the stated deadline. This brings these transactions closer to traditional bank wire transfer standards.
Operators must establish clear policies and procedures for managing transfer-related risks, collect identity information for customers and counterparties, include originator and beneficiary information with the transfer order, and maintain transaction records for a minimum of five years.
