Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has taken a significant step towards introducing regulated crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the country. The SEC opened a public comment period on Monday for draft regulations covering crypto ETFs, aiming to broaden investment opportunities for investors and support product diversity in Thailand's capital market.

The proposal includes two key areas: a regulatory framework for establishing crypto ETFs in Thailand and revised qualification standards for foreign custodians handling digital assets on behalf of mutual funds and private funds. The SEC stated that the goal is to set consistent standards for offshore digital asset custody.

The move marks a formal step towards introducing regulated Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) ETF products in Thailand. By establishing clear regulations, the SEC hopes to attract more investment into the country's capital market.
