Thailand SEC Unveils Draft Regulations for Crypto ETFs
Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has proposed draft regulations for crypto exchange-traded funds (ETFs), marking a significant step towards introducing regulated Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF products in the country. The proposal, which was opened to public comment on Monday, covers two main areas: a regulatory framework for establishing crypto ETFs in Thailand and revised qualification standards for foreign custodians.
The SEC's move is seen as a key development for the growth of cryptocurrency markets in Southeast Asia. Regulated ETF products are expected to attract institutional investors and increase liquidity in the market, potentially boosting demand for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
However, it remains to be seen how quickly the proposed regulations will take effect and whether they will meet the needs of the growing crypto community in Thailand.
