Thailand Tightens Digital Asset Transfer Rules to Combat Money Laundering
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in Thailand has introduced new rules for digital asset businesses to reduce the risk of technology-related crime, including money laundering.
The new regulations require digital asset operators to collect, verify, and retain information on transfers, known as the 'travel rule', to strengthen safeguards against money laundering and other crimes.
The SEC aims to bring Thailand's framework closer to international standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FTAF).
