The Sandbox Updates Creator Engine with Improved Lighting and Templates
The Sandbox has rolled out a new update to its creator engine, bringing improvements in lighting and animations, additional templates and game examples, smoother workflows in the editor, and various bug fixes.
This is the third major update for The Sandbox's creator tooling since July, following an August 12 beta that rebuilt how the engine handles scenes. The new release includes a fresh set of templates and game examples, as well as a revamped editor workflow.
The previous two updates brought significant changes to the engine, including a reworked scene system and the removal of legacy APIs. This latest update continues to refine the creator tooling, making it easier for developers to build games within The Sandbox's platform.
A beta game jam is currently underway, where participants are encouraged to create games using The Sandbox Studio. The competition has a total prize pool of $7,500, with the winner receiving $2,500 and the runner-up taking home $1,600.
