THORChain Warns Decentralization Not Guaranteed by Validator Count
THORChain has expressed concerns about the decentralization of its network, highlighting that hundreds of validators may not necessarily guarantee decentralization. According to the network, a high validator count can be misleading if those participants operate from the same data centers or are controlled by shared entities.
The network emphasizes the importance of validator independence and open participation rather than relying solely on validator numbers. THORChain co-founder Chad Barraford has argued that blockchain networks with hundreds of validators can still remain centralized through shared operators and infrastructure.
The network separates software development from final protocol approval, requiring support from two-thirds of nodes before adoption. This process allows for independent node review and acceptance of changes before implementation, but may slow responses to technical problems.
