Thune Confirms CLARITY Act Vote Before US Senate Recess
US Senate Majority Leader John Thune has confirmed that a vote on the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at regulating the crypto market, will take place before lawmakers head out for their August recess. The news comes despite the bill being absent from the official Senate floor schedule.
In an interview with reporters, Thune stated that there are several pressing issues to be addressed before the break, including a continuing resolution, nominations package, Russia sanctions, and the crypto market structure bill. He emphasized that lawmakers will remain in session until all outstanding matters are resolved.
The CLARITY Act has been a priority for many in the crypto industry, with Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong urging senators to approve the bill. Armstrong believes that the legislation would provide much-needed clarity for the sector, advancing consumer protection and bolstering law enforcement capabilities.
