Tlaib's Crypto Holdings Revealed Through Exchange-Traded Funds
Rep. Rashida Tlaib's (D-MI) recent financial disclosure has revealed her holdings in two cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs), the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) and the Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF (ETH).
The Michigan Democrat reportedly held up to $30,000 in IBIT across two Schwab retirement accounts and as much as $15,000 in ETH in her Roth IRA. This exposure puts her disclosed crypto ETF holdings at between $3,003 and $45,000, based on the broad value ranges required in congressional financial disclosures.
Tlaib voted against the CLARITY Act, a major piece of crypto market-structure legislation, which passed the House in July 2025. The following month, she co-sponsored the Ban Crypto Corruption Resolution, calling for measures to prevent conflicts of interest and foreign influence in politicians' digital asset activities.
The IBIT purchases occurred on April 28 and May 29, 2025, alongside rollovers of two employer retirement plans, indicating that Tlaib's reported crypto exposure is entirely through exchange-traded products. This distinction matters because it shows that she did not buy Bitcoin (BTC) directly.
BlackRock's IBIT has become the dominant vehicle for U.S. spot Bitcoin exposure, with nearly $59 billion in assets. The fund continues to attract substantial capital, pulling in roughly $1.9 billion last week, with IBIT accounting for a significant share of the buying.
