TMTG Abandons Cryptocurrency Plans, $CRO Price Plummets

Donald Trump's company, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), is scaling back its plans to enter the cryptocurrency market. Under new management, TMTG has decided to distance itself from cryptocurrencies, citing saturation in the digital asset treasury market. The company announced that it would be ending two previously planned deals with Crypto.com, including a $CRO Strategy initiative.

TMTG's Interim CEO Kevin McGurn stated that the company wants to adopt a more focused strategy, noting that the digital asset treasury market has largely reached saturation point in the past year. The decision marks a significant departure from TMTG's previous strategy, which aimed for aggressive growth in the crypto and financial services sectors by 2025.

The $CRO price experienced a significant drop following this development. McGurn stated that the fact that staking of $CRO assets has not become as important to Crypto.com as it once was makes sense for the parties to go in different directions. The CEO also indicated that the decision was made due to competitive conditions rather than regulatory concerns about a Trump-linked company operating in an industry regulated by the Trump administration.
