TMTG Seeks Fusion Salvation Amid Cryptocurrency Woes
Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is facing significant financial challenges as it shifts its focus from cryptocurrency expansion to nuclear fusion and premium data products. The company reported a $238mn loss and $1.7mn in revenue for Q2 2026, with a net loss of $644mn for the first half of the year.
TMTG is blaming lower Bitcoin prices for the deterioration in its financial performance. Despite this, the company is pressing ahead with a planned merger with TAE Technologies, valued at over $6bn, and has committed $300mn to the fusion start-up before the deal is completed.
The strategic pivot comes as TMTG faces pressure across its core media business and governance structure. Its stock is down nearly 30 percent year-to-date, Truth Social's daily active users have fallen to 261,000 in July, and CEO Devin Nunes stepped down in April.
