Tokenization Gains Traction as Banks and Central Banks Expand Digital-Asset Infrastructure
Institutional tokenization is gaining momentum as banks and central banks expand their regulated digital-asset infrastructure. UniCredit, a major European bank, is preparing to offer crypto custody and trading services, while Canada's regulator has cleared the way for tokenized deposits in the banking system.
India has made significant strides in this area, settling $107 million of blockchain-based bonds directly in its central bank digital currency. This convergence between traditional finance and distributed-ledger settlement is a key trend in the industry.
The stablecoin market is also experiencing rapid growth, with Ethena bringing USDe and sUSDe to TRON, expanding access to these digital dollars across its ecosystem. However, operational and cybersecurity risks remain a concern, as evidenced by recent hacks and exposure of user information.
