Tokenization Set to Revolutionize AMM Liquidity, Says Uniswap Founder
Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap, believes that tokenization will change how liquidity is offered in cryptocurrency and traditional markets. He sees this as a significant development for automated market makers (AMMs), which currently conduct billions of dollars in transactions daily.
According to the Bank for International Settlements' study, AMM-based decentralized exchanges process over $10 billion worth of digital assets every day. These platforms provide pooled user deposits and set prices without an order book, making them a crucial solution for delivering liquidity at scale.
The increasing adoption of tokenized assets is evident, with approximately $18 billion in 'distributed' real-world assets (RWAs) placed on public blockchains in January 2026. Tokenized U.S. Treasuries account for the bulk of this amount, with BlackRock's BUIDL fund holding over $2 billion, or nearly 25% of the total.
Regulatory environments are becoming more favorable, with the GENIUS Act and SEC reforms in the U.S., MiCA in Europe, and initiatives like Singapore's Project Guardian and the UAE's VARA framework contributing to the formation of tokenization hubs in Asia.
