Tokenization Surpasses Early ETF Adoption, Reaches $3.48 Billion
Tokenized assets have reached $3.48 billion in value, according to Ondo Finance's John Hoffman. This growth surpasses the early adoption of exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Hoffman attributes the rapid uptake to a combination of factors, including clear regulatory frameworks, support from brokers and intermediaries, and standardized portfolio structures.
Tokenized assets have achieved significant milestones in reaching $1 billion in value. Stablecoins took three years, while tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds reached this mark in 18 months. Tokenized stocks did so in six months, and Ondo Stocks in eight months.
Hoffman notes that the speed of adoption is a key difference between tokenization and ETFs. He believes the technology has the potential to reshape market structures and simplify cross-border distribution.
