Tokenized Assets Market Surges to $7.5 Billion
The tokenized assets market has experienced explosive growth over the past year, tripling in value from $2 billion to $7.5 billion. According to data reported by CryptoRank, this surge is largely driven by the increasing popularity of tokenized gold, which has surpassed $6 billion in market cap.
The dominance of precious metals in the tokenized assets space is evident, with Tether Gold (XAUT) and Pax Gold (PAXG) remaining the top two players. These tokens are backed by physical gold reserves and offer investors a convenient and accessible way to buy fractional gold without dealing with traditional vaults or custody fees.
In recent months, however, diversification has begun to emerge in the tokenized assets market, with tokenized treasuries, real estate fractions, and commodity baskets gaining traction. This shift is part of the broader real-world asset (RWA) category, which estimates range from $20 billion to $60 billion.
Institutional investors are drawn to tokenization due to its liquidity, accessibility, and efficiency. Unlike traditional commodities markets, tokenized versions settle in minutes, offering institutions a 24/7 trading window and programmable compliance through smart contracts.
