Tokenized Assets on Solana: Freeze Authority and Permanent Delegate Permissions Exposed

A recent incident involving the tokenized silver asset SILV has highlighted a crucial aspect of tokenized real-world assets (RWA) on Solana. On September 11, 2026, Dominion Market issued a warning that any SILV balances purchased between 01:00 and 14:00 UTC would be removed from wallets.

The issuer's response to the compromised multisig wallet was swift, with liquidity pulled, affected wallets secured, and new hardware devices implemented. This move demonstrates the power of 'freeze authority' and 'permanent delegate' permissions in mint accounts.

A check on 32 tokenized assets on Solana revealed that every single one carries a freeze authority, while 21 also have a permanent delegate. This means issuers can halt transfers, freeze balances, or even remove tokens from wallets without the holder's consent.
