Tokenized Gold Revival: Tether Gold Surges Near $4,430 Amid Market Uncertainty
Tokenized gold trading has seen a significant revival in recent months, led by Tether Gold (XAUT), according to CoinGecko data. The token's price has surged near $4,430 after spot gold pulled back from its recent highs.
XAUT remains the dominant tokenized gold asset in crypto markets, with trading volumes moving close to their 2026 highs in August. The token's liquidity on Uniswap V3 reached about $2.39 million, deepening decentralized access beyond centralized exchanges.
The growth of XAUT wallet holders has also been notable, increasing by over 16% in 30 days to reach 84,756 wallets, per RWA.xyz. This surge in demand is driven by traders using tokenized gold for hedging, collateral, and leveraged speculation amid inflation concerns and global market uncertainty.
XAUT is being integrated into decentralized finance platforms, with the token used as collateral on lending and perpetual futures platforms like Lighter and Hyperliquid. This expansion of its role beyond spot ownership suggests that tokenized gold trading is maturing into a functional building block of decentralized finance.
