Tokenized Gold Surges Past $3.1 Billion as Institutional Investors Pile In
The demand for tokenized gold has surged in August, driving the total value of Tether Gold (XAUT) to over $3.1 billion. The asset rallied towards $4,600 before settling at $4,474.72, according to market data.
The influx of new capital into XAUT reflects sustained appetite from both inflation hedgers and speculative traders. Over the past month, an AI-powered trading system, Antalpha, accumulated over 16,120 XAUT, worth more than $71 million, indicating growing institutional confidence in tokenized gold.
Market participants point to several factors behind gold's resurgence, including volatility in semiconductor stocks, geopolitical tension, and persistent inflationary signals. Tokenized gold offers crypto-native investors a way to gain exposure to gold without leaving the blockchain ecosystem.
The holder base for XAUT has expanded significantly, with over 84,756 wallets holding the asset, a jump of more than 16 percent in 30 days. The token's utility is also increasing, with its integration into the Lighter derivatives platform as collateral and growing supply on multiple networks, including BNB Chain and Monad.
