Tokenized Pokémon Cards Outperform Bitcoin in 2026, Surge in Market Volume
Tokenized Pokémon cards have gained significant traction in the past year, beating Bitcoin's returns. In July 2026, $290.3 million moved through this market, a record-breaking figure. The on-chain collectible niche has undergone three waves of innovation: digital-only NFTs proved the technology, licensed collectibles demonstrated demand, and physically backed tokens provided a floor.
The sector's growth can be attributed to its ability to provide instant liquidity, with platforms such as Collector Crypt and Phygitals offering users the option to buy, sell, or trade cards seamlessly. The market has also seen notable sales, including Logan Paul's PSA 10 Pikachu Illustrator, which sold for $16.5 million in February 2026.
The six biggest players in the sector are leading the charge, with Courtyard and MemeStrategy launching their own tokenized trading card platforms. Collector Crypt's CARDS token has also gained popularity, allowing users to speculate on the market without holding inventory. The platform's gacha mechanic has been particularly successful, generating $3.29 million in 22 hours.
Despite its growth, the sector still faces challenges. Nearly all of the volume comes from pack openings and instant buybacks, rather than collectors trading with each other. However, the data suggests that redemption rates are higher than initially thought, with Collector Crypt reporting a corrected statistic of 587 wallets withdrawing 4,660 items worth $2.41 million insured in a single month.
