Tokenized Stocks Hit $3 Billion Weekly Volume
Tokenized stock trading has reached new heights, with weekly spot volume reaching nearly $3 billion in August. Grayscale Investments reported that tokenized-equity trading peaked at this level early in the month, with Robinhood Chain, BNB Chain, and Solana capturing most of the activity across blockchain-based equities.
The growth is not limited to turnover; the market capitalization of tokenized stocks has also grown significantly, standing at around $3 billion according to Token Terminal's dashboard. This represents a rapid expansion of markets that allow investors to trade economic exposure to traditional stocks on public blockchains.
Robinhood Chain has quickly become an important part of the market after launching its public mainnet on July 1. The Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 was built using Arbitrum technology and designed specifically for financial services and tokenized real-world assets. Eligible users in more than 120 countries can access Stock Tokens through Robinhood Wallet, with availability depending on jurisdiction.
The market is becoming increasingly multi-chain, with multiple networks competing for trading volume. On-chain use of tokenized stocks has topped $110 million, but most activity is still centered on buying and selling rather than using tokenized shares for lending or borrowing.
