Tom Lee Bets on Contrarian Rally Amid September Crash Fears
Fundstrat's Tom Lee says the current market fear over a September crash could actually trigger a stock rally and push Bitcoin (BTC) toward $150,000. Lee has not dropped his correction call but has moved it, pointing to the September 15 Federal Reserve meeting as the moment that decides direction.
Lee is treating the current situation as a contrarian signal, citing historical data from US midterm election years since 1986, which shows that the average stock market low landed on September 2. Those lows followed an average slide of 16.77% from the prior high.
According to Lee, if the Fed doesn't cut or hike interest rates at the upcoming meeting, he thinks the markets could rally strongly. He even goes as far as suggesting a possible S&P 500 price above 8,000 by October, with Bitcoin potentially reaching $150,000.
