Tom Lee Predicts Ethereum Will Reach $6,000, Despite Previous Misses
Tom Lee, chairman of BitMine and co-founder of Fundstrat, has been optimistic about the potential for Ethereum to reach $6,000 in price. This forecast comes despite several previous targets he's set being missed, including a Bitcoin price target of $25,000 in 2018 and $250,000 in 2025.
Lee notes that clients who initially allocated just 2% of their portfolios to Bitcoin more than a decade ago have seen the position grow to over 85% without buying additional BTC. This has been possible due to the significant price appreciation of Bitcoin over the years, but it also assumes investors left the position untouched and didn't rebalance their portfolios.
Lee's current Ethereum forecast requires a roughly 142% rally from its current price of around $2,482. This target is based on his earlier prediction that Bitcoin would reach $150,000 and the ETH/BTC ratio climbing to 0.04, which would result in an Ethereum price of exactly $6,000.
However, reaching this target will be challenging, as it requires both Bitcoin and Ethereum to perform well. Lee believes that the next 12 months could be 'really bullish' for crypto due to increasing leverage and the approaching four-year cycle bottom.
