Tom Lee Sees 12-Month Bull Run for Crypto Amid Strong Fundamentals
Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee predicts that cryptocurrencies are entering an exceptionally strong 12-month period. He attributes this to the market having flushed out much of its excessive leverage and approaching its expected four-year-cycle trough.
The strategist points to last October's deleveraging as a significant factor in the current situation, which he believes will lead to a 'really bullish' period for crypto. Lee also highlights the improving fundamental backdrop for cryptocurrencies, noting that adoption has continued even during the prolonged downturn.
Specifically, Lee mentions growing adoption of tokenization by major financial institutions and increasing capabilities of artificial intelligence as potential drivers of demand for blockchain infrastructure.
Lee cautions against attempting to perfectly time the market bottom, warning that trying to catch the exact bottom could lead to missing a substantial portion of the eventual rally. He notes that Fundstrat's long-running observation is that a tiny number of extremely strong trading sessions are responsible for a disproportionate share of crypto's returns.
Institutional performance chasing is also expected to become increasingly important if crypto continues outperforming traditional assets, according to Lee.
